The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Oybek Osmanov, and his accompanying delegation in his office to discuss bilateral matters.

During the meeting, in-depth deliberations were held concerning the strategic importation of essential pharmaceuticals and advanced medical equipment from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. Particular emphasis was placed on reinforcing bilateral collaboration in public health systems and implementing sustainable capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the clinical competencies and technical proficiency of Afghan healthcare practitioners.

The Minister of Public Health emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan in the healthcare sector. He stated:

“Were we to enhance our healthcare infrastructure, it would be essential to prioritize the capacity building of medical personnel, alongside ensuring access to high-quality pharmaceuticals and advanced medical equipment. Not only do strong bilateral relations enable the exchange of medical expertise, but they also facilitate significant improvements in healthcare delivery. It is through such collaboration that we can achieve tangible progress and provide standardized healthcare services to the population.”

His Excellency the Minister further emphasized that pharmaceuticals imported into Afghanistan from Uzbekistan and other countries must be duly registered and listed with the Ministry of Public Health's Food and Drug Deputy Office, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.

The Uzbek delegation expressed their satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation in the health sector and, in doing so, pledged unwavering commitment to enhancing the capacity of Afghan healthcare professionals and facilitating the export of high-quality pharmaceuticals.
