Public Health Minister Meets WHO Head to Strengthen Tuberculosis Prevention and Treatment in Afghanistan

The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalali Jalali, held a meeting in his office with the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Afghanistan, Dr. Edwin Ceniza Salvador, along with officials from the Tuberculosis (TB) departments of the organization’s headquarters and regional offices.

Comprehensive discussions were held on strengthening tuberculosis services, providing additional facilities to health centers for TB care, delivering timely and high-quality services to patients, increasing the budget to improve services, enhancing the effectiveness of the diagnosis and treatment process, and building the capacity of health workers.

H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalali Jalali thanked the Head of the World Health Organization and the accompanying delegation for their continued cooperation and stated:

“Prevention and treatment of tuberculosis are among the priorities of the Ministry of Public Health, and we are striving, with the support of international partner organizations, to deliver standard health services to all residents of the country.”

The Minister added that the cooperation of the World Health Organization is highly important for strengthening the health system, controlling diseases, and improving public health programs.

The Head of the World Health Organization and the international officials of the Tuberculosis Department, referring to their continued cooperation, assured their full cooperation and commitment to the Ministry of Public Health in combating tuberculosis and expanding services.
