Diarrhoea is a common health problem among children; however, with proper care and timely treatment, serious complications can be prevented.

During an episode of diarrhoea, pay close attention to the following recommendations:

- To prevent dehydration, give your child Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) as recommended by a healthcare worker.

- Do not stop breastfeeding. Continue breastfeeding and provide age-appropriate foods.

- Consult a healthcare worker about the use of zinc supplements.

- If your child is very weak, unable to drink, has sunken eyes, has blood in the stool, or shows signs of dehydration, seek medical care at a health facility immediately.

- Do not give antibiotics or other medicines without medical advice.

The most important measures during childhood diarrhoea are preventing dehydration and seeking timely medical care.
