Nationwide Inspection Campaign Leads to Closure of 87 Pharmacies and Seizure of Unsafe Medicines in Kabul

Kabul – The Inspection and Monitoring Directorate, operating under the Deputy Minister’s Office of Food and Drugs at the Ministry of Public Health, conducted a comprehensive inspection campaign across the country, targeting a total of 1,776 pharmacies.
Following rigorous assessments, 87 pharmacies were ordered to cease operations due to non-compliance with national health regulations and licensing standards. The enforcement teams identified serious legal and procedural violations, prompting immediate closure to safeguard public health.
In addition, inspectors confiscated 250 consignments of expired, substandard, and unauthorized pharmaceutical products, deemed unsafe for human use. These items were subsequently transported to a designated disposal site in accordance with environmental and safety protocols.
